I was fortunate enough to meet a local girl from Holland one day in early January 2011. We were on a train from Brussels to Amsterdam and began a conversation initially about the ridiculous amount of luggage I was carting around. After discussing travel stories and future ambitions, obviously I started discussing Tulips, being in the Netherlands and all. This was when I discovered that she lived in the North of Holland in Friesland, where the country side and Tulips are at their finest. A month later and I was on my way up there to be shown around a small part near of this region near Wolvega.
Friesland is the third largest province of the Netherlands and is primarily agricultural. Although my time there was short, it was enough. This place is truly magnificent.
